LED Surgical Lights

LED Surgical Lights

LED surgical lights are the best choice for many reasons. We know that the price of refurbished (or even new in some rare cases) halogen lights is attractive, but you truly get what you pay for when it comes to surgical lighting.

Halogen or LED?

Yes, we still sell halogen lights, but we almost never recommend them, they must be insisted upon. Why? The answers are easy, actually:

LED Surgical Lights Have very little heat output compared to halogen lights. The older halogen lights had to contend with a very, very hot environment, which degraded the inside of the light heads over time. The plastic components would get brittle and break. The lenses would lose their coating and peel. The light bulbs (halogen) were expensive and needed replacement often compared to LED. The halogen light heads were also heavier and this the suspension systems from the ceiling were heavier and more robust. This made installs harder in some cases.

LED lights have long lives! Most boast over 50,000 hours of expected life. To put it in relatable terms, that would be equivalent to turning the lights on and running them non stop, 24 hours a day for over 5 1/2 years! If at 8 hours a day it would be over 15 years!

The suspension system are more lightweight, and so are the light heads themselves. Installation is easier and so is maintenance. The CRI and light outputs are excellent, as well. You really can’t go wrong with LED!
