Leaking Tabletop Sterilizers

Many doctor’s offices, clinics, and surgery centers have tabletop sterilizers. They come in either manual or automatic versions but both will sterilize items equally as well. I have a tip that can save you time and money by avoiding unnecessary service calls.

Your first step is to inspect the door gasket. There are many different types of gaskets and they are specific to the model you have. Look for any damage from where steam could leak. Check for tightness of fit. It should not be loose when properly installed. Door seals tend to shrink with age and should be replaced at least once a year when used heavily. If you notice any of these symptoms, you should replace the door seal. You could install it yourself and save yourself a service call.

If you are having issues where the steam sterilization test strips are failing, we recommend you call the Venture Medical Service Dept. at 800-627-3215 for assistance. Stop using your Sterilizer and avoid using non-sterile tools on a patient and causing cross contamination or related problems. We will help you troubleshoot over the phone, if possible.
